Upgrade of this dam is part of a contract with the Government of Gujarat for the upgrade of 4 dams, between July 1997 and the monsoon season in June 1998, involving a total of 250 fusegates.

The fusegates are divided into 17 sets of three and one set of four. This arrangement provides a more significant free interval between any two wells, for a higher discharge capacity over the fusegates.

The upgrade has made it possible to irrigate an additional 100 hectares and increase storage capacity.
