Khorobrovskaya Dam is a dam located on the Nerl-Volzhskaya River 120 km north of Moscow, Russia.
It was developed as an experimental facility to perform field tests on various hydraulic equipment.
Two sections of the spillway were each equipped with two metal fusegates in order to analyze the behavior of Hydroplus fusegates under harsh winter conditions, in ice-affected environments: changing reservoir level, thermal expansion effects and impact from ice floes.
Despite extreme operating conditions (60 cm-thick layer of ice in the reservoir, freezing of the fusegates, ice floes) no displacement or noticeable deformation of the fusegates was observed.
