Ruti Dam was built to supply water for land irrigation.
The owner decided to raise the reservoir storage capacity in order to develop new tracts of farmland.
To this end, the decision was made to install the Hydroplus system, enabling the spillway sill level to be raised by 1.6 m without altering its discharge capacity.
A study showed that the storage gains made in this way would enable an extra 350 ha to be irrigated.
In view of the large number of fusegates and their moderate size, the decision was made to fabricate them in reinforced precast concrete, using imported molds specifically designed for the purpose.
