Gaining up to 120 million m³ without affecting the environment; improving flood control; increasing hydroelectric production in off-peak periods; and securing the discharge mechanisms: these were the challenges addressed by URRA ESP SA, through the application of a combined system of fusegates and two flap gates, 5.5 m high and 12 m large.
To meet the specific needs of the project, a new type of fusegate with a high discharge coefficient was installed on the Creager spillway of the structure.
The two outermost bays of the spillway were lowered and subjected to innovative sill preparation.
This constitutes a first for Hydroplus in Latin America.
