França Dam, constructed in 1996 for irrigation and drinking water supply for the populations of the semi-arid state of Bahia, offers a reservoir of high-quality water.

After the major drought that began in 2012 - the worst in the last 50 years - CERB, the dam operator, chose the fusegates system to increase the reservoir capacity by approximately 30%, so as to be better prepared in the face of new periods of drought.

This project, a first for Brazil, was completed in just 10 months.
