The Jindabyne Dam required a new auxiliary spillway in order to provide enhanced spillway discharge capacity.
A comprehensive evaluation of the technical and economic merits of the various solutions (earth fuseplugs, traditional mechanical gates, etc.) culminated in the choice of fusegates.
This solution benefits furthermore from improved operational reliability compared to the alternative systems.
Once completed, these fusegates measuring 7.6 m high will be the tallest ever built.
